The best falls are expected to fall on high ground around Oberon and the Jenolan Caves, but there is also a chance of snow between Lithgow and Bathurst.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye website, snow is expected to start falling about 7am with a peak about 10am.
The snow is forecast to clear by mid afternoon but should be just a taste of what's to come as winter rolls around again.
The predicted snow on Friday will come at the end of a week where the maximum is not expected to reach 20 on any day and overnight minimums will hover around the 1-3 degrees Celsius mark.
The bureau is forecasting a clear day on Monday, May 7 with a top of 16 and an overnight low of six while on Tuesday we can expect another sunny day and another maximum of 16.
No significant rainfall is forecast this week after Lithgow received 24mm of rain on Friday.
