Isabel Elena Castillo, 19, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol in Lithgow Local Court on April 4.
The court heard Castillo was driving home after a night out at about 2am on October 21 when she veered across the road and crashed into a Lake Pillans road sign on the southern kerb side. She reversed and continued east towards her home.
Shortly afterwards, Castillo was taken to hospital by her mother for treatment for a sore neck. According to the police report, a blood sample taken at 3am showed a blood alcohol level of 0.166.
Her licence has been disqualified for nine months and she will serve out a three-year Community Corrections order on top of her community service. It was noted that Castillo had taken full responsibility for the incident and asked her mother to contact police the night of the incident.
Doesn't cheque out
A Bowenfels man will serve 50 hours of community service after he was found in possession of a cheque that did not belong to him.
Police searched David Pallet, 26, on March 22 after the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped on Page Street.
He was found to be in possession of a $2545 cheque made out in someone else's name.
Pallet told police the cheque had arrived in the mail by mistake and that he was carrying it as a joke to show friends.
He was charged with having goods in his custody suspected of being stolen and unlawfully obtained goods. He was placed on a 12-month Community Corrections Order.

Jeremy Lloyd Clark, 26, of Bowenfels was fined $1100, disqualified from driving for six months and ordered to install an interlock device after he was found guilty of high range drink driving in Lithgow Local Court on April 5. He was charged on February 28.
