Davidson was awarded with his life membership at the association's cricket presentation on Friday, March 29 by president Danny Whitty.
"I still don't think I have done enough to deserve this, but thank you so much," Davidson said.
Davidson also refused life membership over 30 years ago because he thought he didn't deserve it, according to Whitty.
"Sandy has a life membership long overdue, he was involved in cricket religiously every weekend back in his playing days and he's virtually the backbone of the club.
"He thoroughly deserves this, he was nominated a long time ago and he knocked it back because he thought he hadn't done enough, but he deserves it, he has done so much," Whitty said.
Whitty also said Davidson was a first class player and behind the scenes administrator.
"He always put his hand up to help out, always rolled his sleeves up to do what had to be done.
"He's retired now but he always made a contribution to the game and never sought any recognition, hence why it's been hard to get him to accept becoming a life member," he said.
Whitty said he was ecstatic that Davidson finally gave in for life membership because he was well worth the recognition.
"We thought bugger it we ain't gonna ask him, we're gonna tell him, because he deserves it," he said.
