The conference, which was themed 'Make Your Mark', continued the work of the ALGWA, which is a national non-political organisation, founded in 1951 to encourage and support women involved in local government, both elected representatives and staff members.

Cr Coleman said it was a "great honour to be elected president of this influential organisation". She thanked her peers for their support.
"I will continue to encourage and support more women to participate in Local Government as councillors, encourage leadership roles for women employees and involve women in our community through initiatives such as the new Women's Advisory Committee," she said.
"I would like to thank Lithgow City Council for their support of my role on ALGWA and for hosting the ALGWA Executive Committee in February.
"This was an opportunity for me to showcase Lithgow and the region to women from all over the state, a platform which I will continue to use to promote the Greater City of Lithgow."
