Not long after the club was formed, the idea of female membership was raised and on Friday, April 23, 1920, the Lithgow Mercury reported that "it was decided that they be admitted to the Club, the membership being fixed at 1 pound 1 shilling per year".
In wasn't until three decades later, in June 1954, that a meeting was held, a committee formed and the name "Lithgow Ladies Croquet and Bowls Club" adopted.
Robert Richie noted, in his history of the club's centenary, that: "In September permission was granted for the ladies to play one afternoon a week on one of the City Club's greens. Ladies were initially allowed to play bowls on No 3 green on Tuesdays between the hours of 1pm and 4pm. Ladies were not allowed into the clubhouse until much later".
