My Grandfather, Joseph Hope a civil engineer. practised as a Consulting Engineer, and employed as a Shire Engineer to various shires in the Bathurst, Orange, Lithgow, Cudal region from around 1890 until his death in Orange in 1928. An avenue of poplars was planted in his honour in Nangar Road Cudal
His father-in-law was Percy Scarr, also a civil engineer in the same area for some time during Josephs time there. Percy had five daughters and two sons.
One of his daughters Edith Mary Scarr married Joseph Hope at the All Saints Cathedral Bathurst on 29th October 1887.
They had five sons prior to Edith moving to Neutral Bay Sydney to have a daughter born due to a marriage breakup, with Joseph staying in the region until his death in 1928 in Orange.
My problem is I have a very precious family album from a few early years circa 1900 with lovely photos with nicely decorated surrounds but unfortunately, no names, dates or locations. Fortunately I am able me to identify my grandfather Joseph, and my father Charles and his four brothers from the album photos.
However, due to the photos of several women with the family at picnics and in group photos, I am unable to discern which is my grandmother Edith, and perhaps some of the other ladies. Love the fashions...
Due to the family history in your region and the large Scarr family, it may be that a descendent has a similar family album containing photos that may assist me in identifying Edith.
Attached are some of the photos of the ladies from my album
I am hopeful that some family member among your readers may be able to solve this long running mystery for me.
