A Cullen Bullen man was arrested in relation to the incident on Sunday afternoon and has been granted conditional bail to face a reckless wounding charge at a later date.
Police will allege the 27-year-old* intervened in a physical fight between two women at the Coronation Hotel, Portland, at about 11pm on Saturday night, hitting the 25-year-old woman in the head with a schooner glass. Police stated the man had intervened in an attempt to protect the other woman involved in the fight.
Police are still investigating whether further charges will be laid against the other people involved in the initial fight.
The woman, from Stubbo near Gulgong, suffered a deep cut above her right eye and right ear.
She walked outside the hotel and collapsed. The man allegedly jumped a fence at the property and left.
The 25-year-old woman was taken by road ambulance to Lithgow Hospital before being transferred to Sydney for specialised treatment for her injuries.
The man was arrested the following day and interviewed at Lithgow Police Station. He was denied bail before facing Lithgow Local Court on Monday, February 25. He has been released with strict bail conditions in place until his next appearance on March 14.
*The man's age was initially listed as 37, but police have confirmed he is a 27-year-old.
Damage at Red Rooster
A glass beer stein was thrown through the glass window of the Red Rooster store in Lithgow on Sunday night, February 23.
The incident, which occurred between 9.30pm and 8am on Monday morning, caused $2000 in damage.
Assault
Investigations are continuing into an alleged on a young women outside the Grand Central Hotel at about 2.30am on Sunday morning, February 24.
Lithgow Police were told the 20-year-old was assaulted by a 21-year-old woman, who allegedly kicked her in the back and pulled her hair.
