Their hard work got a boost on Wednesday, February 20, with the delivery of funding for some new equipment.
Bathurst MP Paul Toole said he was happy to be able to deliver the news the club had been successful in its application for a $1660 grant through the Local Sports Grants Program.
"It will allow the club to purchase new equipment which, over time, has perished with water, sun, and with use," he said.
Lithgow Swimming Club head coach Craig McManus said the funds would be used to purchase paddles, front snorkles, pool buoys, stopwatches and fins, which are part of the training regime.
McManus said swimming remained a popular sport for young people, especially in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
"It is one of the harder sports, it requires commitment, dedication and discipline," he said.
"It's one of those sports - what you put in is what you get out of it."
Preparations are currently in full swing for a squad of Lithgow Swimming Club members who are heading off to the Country Championships this weekend (see page 18 for more details).
