Lithgow station officer Steve Houghton said the drill simulated a response to a structure fire, away from a water source. It established a relay to deliver water over a long distance.
"The drill was a good chance for crews to practice radio messaging and pumping techniques, working together to supply the fire and to replicate procedures to overcome simulated hose leaks and pump failures," he stated.
Fire and Rescue NSW is always on the lookout for people keen to train to become a retained fire-fighter. Visit the Fire and Rescue NSW website for details.
