Almost 350 swimmers competed at the carnival which was held at the JM Robson Aquatic Centre with 36 swimmers competing from Lithgow.
Lithgow Swimming Club vice president Pete Evans said there were some significant results from the Lithgow swimmers.
Results:
- Girls 15 years 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke – gold for Bridget Warne
- Girls 15 years 50m Freestyle – silver for Bridget Warne
- Girls 15 years 100m Freestyle, 200 IM – bronze for Bridget Warne
- Boys 12 and under 4 x 50 medley relay – gold for Alex Evans, Angus Warne, Jacob Wilson and Tyler McManus.
- Girls 13 years 100m Butterfly – gold for Alysha Connor
- Girls 13 years 50m Freestyle – silver for Alysha Connor
- Boys 12 years – 100m Breaststroke – gold for Angus Warne
- Boys 12 years 50m Breaststroke – silver for Angus Wane
- Boys 12 and under 4 x 50 medley relay – gold for Alex Evans, Angus Warne, Jacob Wilson and Tyler McManus.
- Boys 11 years 50m Freestyle – gold for Alex Evans
- Boys 11 years 100m Backstroke, 100m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke – silver for Alex Evans
- Boys 9 years 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke, 200 IM – gold for Charlie Evans
- Boys 9 years 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly – bronze for Charlie Evans and silver for 200 IM
- Girls 10 years 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 200 IM – bronze for Elka Lee
- Boys 11 years 100m Butterfly – gold for Jacob Wilson
- Boys 11 years 50m Butterfly – silver for Jacob Wilson and bronze for 200 IM.
- Boys 11 years 100m Breaststroke – silver for Logan McManus
- Boys 11 years 50m Breaststroke, 100m Backstroke – bronze for Logan McManus
Mr Evans said overall the carnival was a great success.
“Kinross Swimming Club from Orange were the overall club champions for the meet, with their swimmers accumulating the most number of points and Lithgow ran in sixth place out of 20 clubs competing,” he said.
With the carnival over Mr Evans said swimmers were now in full training with their focus shifted to representative carnivals.
“They will train for their respective schools and regions at carnivals to be held over the next six weeks,” he said.
He also said nine swimmers from Lithgow had received individual qualifying times for the NSW Country Championships at Homebush on February 23 and 24.
“This is a particularly strong team that will be representing Lithgow and we will also have swimmers in six relay events at the carnivals,” he said.
Looking beyond this, Mr Evans also said swimmers would contest the Speedo Sprint finals in March, seeing Lithgow Swimming Club constantly busy.
"The younger swimmers will also be focusing of trying to qualify for the Junior State Championships at the end of March,” he said.
