The announcement was made by Bathurst MP Paul Toole with funds from the Government's Multicultural Diversity Program allowing for communities to build capacity and support the participation of migrants and new arrivals in their areas.

With 2.5 per cent of multicultural residents in the Lithgow area, LINC general manager Sharon Holt said it was still important.

"There is 2.5 per cent but that percentage is important to the community and it's important to LINC," she said.

She said the funds would allow LINC to form a group and have meetings with them once a month and encourage and identify services they may need.

"They often don't know these services are here, we want to support those who may have language barriers or need help accessing the right services," she said.

Ms Holt also wanted to thank Paul Toole for his continuous support.

 "I just want to say how grateful we are to Paul Toole for providing us with the $10,000 and what that means for our community, it's great," she said.

Mr Toole said the grant was important to support new arrivals integrating into the community.

"It's a great initiative and I congratulate Sharon Holt and Julie Murnane for the work they do down here. This $10,000 for the program is going to go a long way in supporting those people here in our local community," he said.
