The year had a cohort of eight students, with all three of the students who applied getting accepted into university.  

“This is a great achievement for Portland Central,” he said. 

“This is great, to see them get on their way.” 

Mr Borham said that this just showed that small schools could provide the curriculum students needed to get them into university. 

“Small schools can get them where they need to go,” he said. 

According to Mr Borham the school’s numbers have been falling which means they haven't been able to offer certain classes in the senior years. 

“It is unfortunate because this is a great place to learn, but I understand some students thrive in a bigger environment while others are more comfortable in a smaller environment,” he said.

Both 2018 school captains Jayker Smith and Jayden Beasley were both accepted into university as well as student Jasmin Hughes. 

Mr Smith has accepted an offer to study a Bachelor of Computer Science at Western Sydney University. 

Mr Beasley, who was dux of 2018, will be heading to Bathurst’s Charles Sturt University campus to study a Bachelor of Criminal Justice. 

Student Jasmin Hughes has accepted a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Newcastle with the hopes to go into the nursing field.
