Exceeding the challenging requirements and expectations for the award Mrs Statham is so deserving for the "citizen of the year" not only for Portland, but she deserves a nomination for "Australian Citizen of the Year"

Maree has worked tirelessly over many, many years for the community and surrounding areas trying to make things better for everyone. 

She has organised many fund raising events and other organisations that she thinks can use her help. 

She never ceases to impress me with her willing way to give herself at any given moment to help.  She is the most compassionate person I know. 

When Maree is not looking after her family she devotes her time to others. 

Maree loves people, works very hard and always tries to lift the spirits of people around her even if she is not well herself.

I feel very privileged to know Maree and I'm sure there would be hundreds of people in the area that would feel the same way and would also nominate Maree as the most deserving candidate for this award.  

I do hope those people that feel Mrs Statham deserves "Citizen of the Year"  award  also write to the the committee with their stories and achievements they know Maree has accomplished.
