Lithgow and Lithgow West Fire and Rescue teamed up to complete a mandatory fitness drill in the fields near the hockey courts.

The crews set up equipment in the park where each member was then timed dragging hoses, lifting heavy drums, crawling on hands and knees with hoses and more with the aim of completing the challenge in 10 minutes.
“This allowed an opportunity to meet the Lithgow West crew and get to know them better,” Lithgow Fire and Rescue station officer Steven Houghton said.
The fitness activity is to check the fitness of members and to ensure they maintain their fitness and constantly improve.

“It’s not a pass fail thing, it is done to see where your individual fitness is at and then to make improvements where necessary,” he said.
The Lithgow and Lithgow West crews will undergo health checks this year to make sure they are also at their healthiest.
“It also offers healthy competition between the members but also allows them to have fun and learning to work together,” he said.
Mr Houghton said the day was extremely hot, especially with the amount of gear they have to wear.
“All the crew did very well, so that was good to see,” he said.
