Police observed a Lithgow local man in Lithgow Valley Plaza car park and approached him in regards to outstanding matters. 

The man allegedly ran from police and jumped a fence into St Patrick’s Primary School at 6pm. 

Police entered the premises and said they found the man hiding under a table in the hall. 

The man was then searched and police located a small and resealable bag with a crystal substance inside. 

Police seized the bag and are currently getting it analysed. 

The man was arrested and taken back to Lithgow police station where he was charged and will face Lithgow Local Court at a later date.

On Tuesday, January 1 at 12.20am a man was allegedly punched in the face outside his Main Street property. 

The victim was at his home address when he decided to go outside to wish the universe a Happy New Year. 

The offender was walking past the man and allegedly appeared angry when the victim approached him to wish him a Happy New Year. 

The unknown offender then proceeded to punch the victim to the left side of his cheek. 

The person of interest then hopped in an unknown vehicle and left the area. 

Police said it appeared the pair didn’t know each other. 

Police are continuing to make enquiries. 

A 30-year-old man crashed and rolled his car on the Great Western Highway near Pikes Lane at 6am on Monday, December 31. 

The driver from a Botany address was travelling back from Orange when he left the roadway near Pikes Lane. 

Police said it appeared the man may have fallen asleep at the wheel when the vehicle rolled a number of times. 

The man was trapped by confinement and Lithgow Fire and Rescue and Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) were called to the scene. 

Police were able to free the driver from the vehicle who allegedly appeared to be in shock and intoxicated. 

The man was then taken to Bathurst hospital for a check up. 

Police are waiting for blood test results before taking action.
