JULY 20: A trio of Lithgow hockey players have led NSW to victory in the Under 21 Australian Championships, with Abigail Wilson captaining the state’s team and Andrea Gillard scoring the decisive goal in the grand final. Lithgow Panthers’ Clare Bosman made her debut playing for NSW’s top under 21 team.
JULY 20: An unexpected cameo from retired Workies stalwart Jono Van-Veen at Tony Luchetti Sportsground could not prevent a ruthless flogging by last year’s Group 10 premiers Orange CYMS.
JULY 27: Lithgow Hockey’s Ashton McDonald selected to represent his state.
JULY 31: Lithgow’s Kade Inwood packed his bags for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent his country and play basketball on US soil, Hawaii.
AUGUST
AUG 7: Lithgow Lazer Jaidyn Goodwin has scored a scholarship to attend university in the US to play college basketball. READ MORE: US scholarship
AUG 7: Brenna Croker was part of a NSW school hockey team which took on the best of Australia.
AUG 10: Fast bowler Tanvir Singh once again proved to a favourite with selectors, representing the region at the Under 17s Cricket NSW State Challenge in Coffs Harbour. READ MORE: Bowling for Country
AUG 17: The Lithgow Workies premier league side bowed out of the 2018 Group 10 competition on Sunday, August 12 after going down to Cowra at Tony Luchetti Oval. READ MORE: Workies put on a show
AUG 17: Five Lithgow hockey players, Amelia Leard, Jess Luchetti, David Reid, Michael Dillon and Nic Milne, were selected to travel to New Zealand to play for Australia at the Hawkes Bay Hockey Festival. Lithgow’s Wayne “Wally” Gaynor has been chosen to coach the women’s senior side.
AUG 17: In a close and exciting game Lithgow Workies Lazers fell short by one point going down 92-91 to the Tamworth Thunderbolts, finishing their season.
AUG 24: Lithgow Panthers goalkeeper Brenna Croker and attacker Emily Thompson have gained selection into School Sport Australia’s (SSA) All Australian international touring team on the back of their performance at the School Sport Australia Hockey Championships.
AUG 28: Lithgow Panthers men and women’s hockey sides claimed home grand finals in their major semi-final matches played at Bathurst on Saturday, August 25, but Zig Zag wasn't as lucky in front of their home crowd.
AUG 31: It has been a hugely successful season for the Lithgow Storm Under 15’s side, which won the right to contest the junior league grand final on Saturday, September 1. READ MORE: What a team
SEPTEMBER
SEPT 4: Lithgow Storm’s Cooper Nunan was named man of the match in the Under 15’s grand final, which was won by Orange CYMS.
SEPT 11: A standout performance from Brandon Horner helped Lithgow Panthers to its fifth men’s Premier League Hockey premiership in six years, downing Souths 6-2. The Panthers women’s team went down to St Pat's.
SEPT 14: Three girls from Lithgow Public School, Portland Central School and Wallerawang Public were selected to represent the Western region in the cricket state championships.
SEPT 14: Lithgow Bears mark season’s end with presentation night.
SEPT 18: To mark Marjorie Jackson-Nelson’s 87th birthday on Thursday, September 13, the Olympic Channel launched a new animated short series featuring the Lithgow Flash in its first episode. READ MORE: Lithgow Flash tribute
SEPT 21: Eight Taekwondo students from Haktari Taekwondo travelled to Bendigo on Friday, September 21 to fight for the Australian title in various weight divisions and belt colours.

OCT 9: Lithgow District Cricket Association announced a revamp of its summer season structure due to falling team numbers.
OCT 12: Lithgow’s Brad De Losa headed to Liverpool, England to compete in the 2018 Stihl Timbersports World Championships.
OCT 16: La Salle Academy’s talented cricketer Tanvir Singh now has an Australian title to his name after taking out the Under 17's National Cricket Championships at Mackay.

OCT 26: Lithgow BMX Club talent Hayley Wolfenden finished her 2018 season in style as she was crowned a national series champion for the first time in her racing career.
NOVEMBER
NOV 6: It was a huge Australian Transplant Games for Lithgow’s Richard Forbes, who brought home two gold medals and a swag of bronze from the competition.
NOV 9: Blake ‘Randy Roy’ Sheppeard makes a comeback at the Western Region Fight Night.
NOV 9: Lithgow’s as nominated as a finalist in the category of ‘Services to Golf in NSW’ at the NSW Golf Industry Award night was held at Curzon Hall in Sydney in October.
NOV 13: Angus Clues claimed gold in the discus at the State Athletics competition with an enormous throw of 49.31. He finished in the silver medal spot on the shotput dais with a throw of 13.77m.

NOV 23: David Palmer OAM was recognised at a formal ceremony in Lithgow at which he thanked his family and the community for their support.
NOV 27: Lithgow sports star and Australian Men’s hockey representative Lachlan Sharp was announced in the 2019 National Men’s senior squad on Wednesday, November 21. Hockey Australia released the 27-member squad as the team that would build towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
DECEMBER
DEC 4: Congratulations to members of the Lithgow Physical Culture Club, who were national finalists for EP Physical Culture, held at Sydney Town Hall recently. Each of these Lithgow club members made it to the top 12 in their age group. Special mention to Zoe Tracey-Gee, who placed fourth in the 9-year-old section.
DEC 11: Local sports star and year 6 Lithgow Public School student Angus Clues competed in the National Track and Field Championships held at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne from Friday, November 23 to Tuesday, November 27. Another medal haul for the young athlete saw four national medals added to his collection, including a new Australian record. READ MORE: Medal haul.
DEC 14: Central West Wranglers batsman Joel Gurney expressed his disappointment after Cricket NSW announced the Plan B Regional Bash finals were to be moved from the Sydney Cricket Ground.
