Lithgow has been running Junior Touch minis for under nines this year, as well as having 12s, 14s and 16s representative squad.
Currently there are a dozen kids in the minis, which caters for kids between five and nine.
Coach and president of Lithgow Touch, Todd Campbell said that having a mini’s group was ideal because it allows for kids to get a feel for the game.
“It’s ideal because if we can get young kids coming through, then they may go on to the under 12’s, 14’s and so on,” he said.
At the moment the club has been lacking in numbers, so whoever turns up gets accepted into the representative teams.
“It has been good with a small club, trying to start out and organise games and things,” he said.
Despite being small, Campbell said that he wanted the club to get bigger and better.
“Hopefully in the next two years we can get a local comp going,” he said.

Campbell said that when he first came to Lithgow a few years ago he noticed that a lot of the sports in the area but had noticed a drop off in attendance.
“I just thought this would be a great opportunity for another sport in Lithgow,” he said.
Junior touch will resume when school returns at the end of January in 2019 and Campbell is inviting parents and kids to come and give it a go.
“If people want to come and try it next year they are more then welcome, and if any parents want to coach or ref they can come down too,” he said.
Campbell said he hopes that the kids can enjoy playing footy and will continue on into the higher age groups as they get older.
