Hundreds of people visited the village with 53 participating in the challenge with their four-legged friends, wearing that iconic red hat in the summer heat.
From ponies to dogs and ducks, everyone was bound to have a jolly time.
Karen Edwards from Karen Edwards Photography was the mastermind behind the idea and captured the photo.
“Numbers were up from last year, and it was wonderful to see so many red hats bobbing about the village and even though it was very hot everyone was in good spirits,” she said.
She also said everyone was pretty excited to be a part of the challenge and most said they would be back again next year.
Participants travelled from all around the region including Lithgow, Mudgee and the Blue Mountains.
Ms Edwards said the eldest participant on the day was 88 years old and the youngest was just one.
“It was for people of all ages and that’s what I love about the Great Santa Hat Challenge, anyone can come and join in and have a giggle.
“It’s all about community and I love where I live,” she said.
Ms Edwards also said her annual Santa photos in Hartley were a success as usual and she would definitely continue holding the Great Santa Hat Challenge next year.
