Members of Rydal Village Association, Lithgow Aged Care Limited and Can Assist Lithgow gathered at Cooinda nursing home for the handover.

A total of $11,662 was raised and split equally between the two.

Rydal Village Association president Phil Paton handed $5831 over to Lithgow Aged Care and the same to Can Assist Lithgow president Maree Statham.

“On behalf of us at Can Assist we are most grateful for this, it’s not something we take for granted and we know how many hours of work were involved with the Daffodils at Rydal,” Ms Statham said.

She also said the money would help out so many within the electorate, keeping the money local.

“I think at the moment we are servicing about 90 close to 100, now that’s a lot of people in our local government area,” she said.

Ms Statham said the money would help those suffering from cancer in the local area.

“It’s the medication, the cost associated with travelling and the bills, basically anything that stresses them out. This money will help keep their ongoing household health,” she said.

She also thanked the Rydal Village Association for their generous donation.

Lithgow Aged Care CEO Craig Oeding said the organisation would use the proceeds to purchase four specific wheelchairs designed for use in buses.

“They will meet RMS requirements and so our residents here, especially in the wheelchairs will be very appreciative,” he said.

He also said the wheelchairs were mainly for safety reasons to assist those who need it on public transport.

Mr Oeding also thanked Rydal for their wonderful donation.
