Those responsible were caught by Lithgow Police.
According to Lithgow Police, who were on the scene, the fire was started by school-aged youths who lit a fire and sprayed a deodorant can onto it.
Due to the wind, and being caught between two large rocks, the fire managed to take off up into the bushland after burning a lot of twigs and sticks.
A passerby saw the fire and tried to use his jumper to extinguish it but it had already moved into the bushland.
