The Wednesday, November 28 event was called off but Thursday evening attracted 34 players who played 15 ends of two bowls triples and three bowl pairs.

The winners were Jeff Brown, Warren Nightingale and Stan Campbell.

On Saturday, December 1 the social winners were Lionel Johnson and Les Barnes who had a good win over Athol Roach and Bob Ray 23 shots to 13.

With scores being level after 10 ends at eight each, Barnes and Johnson were too consistent to go on and win.

For the Final Club Fours on Saturday, December 1 Ian Townsend's team of Graeme Pitt, Jim Bannerman, Col Watton led all the way in scoring 25 shots to 12.

Jack Bennett substituted for Jim Bannerman on the day and proved a worthy member in a solid team effort.

Townsend's team have now won this event three times over the last four years.

For the defeated side of Ian Birk, Iggy Vadkerti, Greg Quinn and Daryl Wright, they all showed why they had reached the final and accounted for themselves in a fine manner.

The first round of the Club pairs got under way this week.

Jim Kelly and John Perry had a very tight encounter with Davey Hunter and Billy Anderson. Leading 20 shots to 10 after 16 ends Perry was able to hang on and even though unable to score further shots was able to limit Hunter to final score of 18.

Plenty of these types of games are excepted, if one looks at the draw for this competition as many team are new combinations and will test their more fancied rivals. 

On Sunday, December 2 the regulars played the Sunday social event, minus those playing the Triples tournament at Portland.

Warren Kennedy, Scott Vander Draay and Col Quince were too strong for Lyn Bulkley, Don Kipp and

Graeme Pitt coming out victors 13 + 6.
