Lithgow Hospital currently has boards out the front so residents and patients can write their name on it to show they are also committed to stopping violence against women.
The community is invited to attend the NBMLHD annual public meeting, with special guest and White Ribbon Advocate, Dr Angela Jay, on Thursday, November 22 at Nepean Hospital.
At this free community event the Local Health District will report on its services and activity for the past 12 months and officially acknowledge the organisation’s recent accreditation as a White Ribbon Workplace.
Dr Jay, an obstetrics and gynaecology doctor, will talk about the impact of family violence and sexual assault on women. She will also speak as a woman who has experienced violence.

To receive accreditation as a White Ribbon Workplace, NBMLHD demonstrated effective leadership, resource allocation, communication, HR policy development and training to create a safer and more respectful workplace.
NBMLHD have taken steps to:
- Increase the knowledge and skills of staff and managers to address issues of violence against women.
- Enhance the capacity of workplaces to respond to the issue of violence against women.
- Change the attitudes and behaviours that allow violence against women to occur.
The District said its staff were proud to be officially recognised as a workplace pioneer that was contributing national cultural change to prevent and respond to violence against women.
The event will also be an opportunity for the community to meet and talk to key NBMLHD staff, including Chief Executive Kay Hyman who will present the Year in Review for the District and the Chair of the NBMLHD Board Peter Collins AM QC.
Lithgow residents who may be in Penrith or are travelling through are more then welcome to attend according to a Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District spokesperson.
The event will begin at 3.30pm in the South Block Auditorium at Nepean Hospital in Derby Street, Kingswood.
