With a very large contest, event prizes went through to fourth place.
Therese Kellond, Ken Bernard and Peter Kearney were winners on the day defeating C. Mearns, Phil Kellond and Cheryl Wotton 12+12
Michael Hughes, Elvie Anderson and Ina Hunter placed second with a solid 11+17 win over Col Quince, Lyn Bulkley, and Barry Perry.
Bev Newcombe, Kerry Bernard and Pam Johnson combined to defeat Jack Irvine, Ann Anderson and Michael Johnson 10+11 taking the third prize money.
Barry Achurch, Gloria Clarke and Graeme Pitt defeated Robin Patterson, Carol Posker and Michael Wholohan for fourth spot in a low scoring game 10+5.
Rain dampened City’s main Wednesday games, leading 30 contestants to compete on the green at Thursday’s Twilight bowls and Friday socials.
In the mixed event on Friday, November 9, 21 pairs teams had the advantage with Davey Hunter and Bruce Gibbons proving too strong for Dani Maruschko and Peter Wholohan 26 shots to 11.
Runners up on the day were Col Quince and Michael Wholohan who defeated Gloria Clarke and Margie Gibbons 21 shots to 9.
Thirty-eight bowlers attended socials and the beginning of the men’s Club Fours Championships on Saturday, November 10.
It was lovely day out on the green which saw a range of excellent results.
Ian Birk’s team of Greg Quinn, Iggy Vadkerti and Darryl Wright gained victory over the fancied team of Les Barnes, Athol Roach, Kevin Shorney and Michael Johnson 22 shots to 18.

Leading almost all the way and being tied after 18 ends, Birk steered his team to a win in the final ends by 4 shots.
On the rink next door Jeff Madden’s “Lefties” were down 10-3 after 8 ends but pulled to the front with a score of 15-12 after 18 ends.
The opposition team of Bill Anderson, Richard Forbes, Davey Hunter and Dave Robson equalised at 15 all with one end to play.
The “Lefties” Gary Bender, Garry Sutherland and Al Kenniff won 18-15 in the final end.
Sunday saw two Fours game decided with Graeme Pitt, Jim Bannerman, Col Wotton and Ian Townsend defeating Richie Bilby, Rob Ritchie, Bob Kiernan and Kerry Clarke 22-14.
Ian Birk’s team played Col Quince, Barry Achurch, Warren Nightingale and Phil Kellond coming away with 44 shots to 8.
Socials were also played on Sunday and had mostly triples.
Leslie Wright, Bill Anderson and Jan Kapusta won their game and the days event with a score of 13+9.
Runners up were Gloria Clarke, Joe Banasiak and Col Wotton who had 12+4 defeating Lyn Bulkley, Don Kipp and Fay King.
With Melbourne Cup week now over Lithgow City look forward to the remaining Club Fours matches and the final of the Club Triples to round off their Championships.
