The event, which will be held at Hoskins Church from 10am until 2pm, is the result of Sue’s dedication to ensuring that residents of the local area are informed about the different resources, organisations and groups available for those that may need innovative supports and inclusive services.
The event is designed as a full day of activity for everyone to attend, and as a platform for some of our local organisations, businesses and services in the disability sector to connect with families to give a better understanding of what supports are available in our local area and how best to access them.
“Just because you have a disability doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be included, they are a part of our community and they are accepted,” Ms Murdoch said.
This all began through Sue’s personal experiences as a grandparent, legal guardian and full time carer to a child with autism.
“It is my driving force and passion to help others, by providing the groups as a non profit volunteer based community service.”

What is Nanna’s Touch?
Nanna’s Touch assists the Lithgow community by supporting and working with local families and people with a disability, mental health issues, who are disadvantaged or anyone wishing to connect for support.
It runs a weekly support service with face to face parent, family or carer group meetings with an aim to provide a social network for understanding and support, positive outcomes, family coping strategies, inclusion in society, service connections and much more.
They offer fortnightly sewing classes to help share the knowledge of a hobby and life skill.
There is also a fortnightly cooking club to help support anyone to learn basic cooking and kitchen skills.
These are based on helping to close the gap on segregation, contributing to inclusion and acceptance.
They also help people understand the NDIS process, and other areas to help gain a better outcome for their child, teen or adult.
