Lithgow Public School’s Angus Clues finished at the top of the dias once again at the State PSSA competition from October 31-November 1.
He was competing alongside three schoolmates at the competition and five competitors from Cooerwull Public School.
Clues represented the region in five events, the 100m and 200m sprints, long jump, discus and shotput.
He claimed gold in the discus with an enormous throw of 49.31, with the flag for the state record staying just out of reach of the resting ball.
He finished in the silver medal spot on the shotput dias with a throw of 13.77m.
Clues made it to the finals in all his other events, finishing fourth in the long jump with 5.07m; fifth in the 200m with a PB of 25.7 seconds; and finishing with a PB in the 100m in a time of 12.7 seconds.
It was a rough road to the State competition, as Clues fought his way back from a fractured shoulder – a souvenir from his time at the State Rugby League Championships.
He thanked his Springwood coach and mentor Rick Berrell for his help in the lead up to the event.
Lithgow Public School’s Maddison Symes finished eighth in the highjump with 1.45m.
Emeric Tauolo Fuamatu finished eighth in the shot put with 10.55m and Taliya Tauolo Fuamatu was 13th in discus with 27.57.
Cooerwull Public School’s contingent did their school proud.
Ryan Wells continued his good form in the high jump, finishing fifth on a countback in the 11 years boys.
Blake Fittler finished eighth in the senior boys shotput and also competed in the discus. Dylan McClean was also solid in the field of the 11 years boys discus competition.
Isabella Wells represented her region in the junior girls shotput and Deklin Unsworth was part of the senior boys shotput contingent.
Well done to all our athletes.
