The Lady Golfers can’t seem to take a trick when it comes to holding Championships.
The Foursomes Championships were postponed in early September due to the unplayable condition of the course and the event was re-scheduled for November 5 and 7.
On the first day disappointingly the greenkeeper had an RDO and the recently renovated greens were not mown leaving the grass very long and making putting extremely difficult but considering that, scores were generally quite good.
On day two early in the round the heavens opened and heavy rain persisted for most of the day with scores very much affected by the terrible conditions.
After the first round defending Champions Judy Charman and Lynne Ritchie were behind by four strokes from Judy Moore and Sue Brooks.
Round two saw the pairing of Charman and Ritchie come home the stronger to win by two strokes to continue their stranglehold on the event.
The 36 Holes handicap saw the same pairing figuring in the prizes, J Charman and L Ritchie beating J Moore and S Brooks on a count back both returning a score of 154 nett.
Due to a two trophy per person rule, day one Rhonda Thompson and Janice Cohen were the winners with 72 nett while day two was taken out by Marie Hackett and Narelle Potts.
The Lady Golfers would like to extend our sincere thanks to Neville Kerrison for the continued sponsorship of our Ladies’ Foursomes event and also the donation of the nearest the pin balls each competition. Neville’s generosity is very much appreciated by the players.
Next week the Gold Medal playoff will be contested. Those to qualify in 1 st Division are Di McGuire, Judy Charman, Sue Brooks, Patty Aidulis and Lynne Ritchie and in 2nd Division qualifiers are Carol Osborne, Margaret Café, Anne Doohan, Judy Fegebank, Robyn Houlison, Pat Livermore and Marie Hackett. A draw has been made for those qualifiers with time slots also available for the non-qualifiers.
On Monday, December 3 Lithgow will be hosting Blue Mountains Finals Day. Visitors will be coming from the Clubs in the Mountains and if our players wish to play they should enter the names on the entry sheet.
Oberon Open Day is scheduled for November 19 so again if wanting to play put your name on the starting sheet.
