Lithgow City Bowling Club saw 15 bowlers participate in social bowls on Friday, October 26.
Joe Banasiak and Maurie Nugent defeated Don Kipp and Faye King 28 shots to 15 in the 18 end format, taking out the prize money.
Gloria Clarke, Don Kenniff and Graeme Pitt were declared runners up on the day after defeating Col Quince, Elvie Anderson and Cheryl Wotton 20 shots to 11.
Wednesday, October 31 saw the pairs teams out on the green.
Warren Nightingale and Maurie Nugent dominated the day with a clear cut win over Jim Bannerman and Angus MacKinnon 20 shots to 10.
Pairs team Michael Wholohan and John Burgess claimed victory over Jim Kelly and Greg Hilliard 21 shots to 12.
Col Wotton and Graeme Pitt teamed up on Friday, November 2 to defeat Gloria Clarke and Cheryl Wotton 23 shots to 13.
An ends margin of 10+1 saw Ina Hunter, Davey Hunter and Maurie Nugent become event winners for the day.
The Club Fours championship commenced on Saturday, November 3.
Jeff Madden’s team of Garry Sutherland, Al Kenniff and Gary Bender took out the day with a whopping score of 15+11.
Barry Perry, Jack Bennett and Bill Cullen proved too strong for their opponents and claimed the runner’s up prize money with a score of 14+4.
In championships Club Triples progressed through to the final.
The semi-final saw Mike Johnson’s team of Athol Roach and Col Wotton defeated Ian Townsend, Rob Ritchie and Richie Bilby 39 shots to 13.
Jeff Madden, Jim Kelly and Jim Bannerman went down in an extra end play off to Stan Campbell, Dave Robson and Barry Perry.
Johnson’s team will take on Campbell’s team in the upcoming final.
Another Club Fours championship game was played mid-week with Jake McAndrew’s team with his brother Sam, Joe Banasiak and Wayne Allan defeated Don Kenniff, Warren Wade, Jack Rayner and Peter Kearney 24 shots to 14.
The next few weeks will see the Triples finals and some Fours games played.
Lithgow City Bowling Club urged those who want to see some good bowls played to come along.
On Thursday, November 1 Twilight bowls commenced.
Under a 15 end format Doug Smith, Ron Simmons and Graeme Pitt were declared winners over Gary Manton, Barry Achurch znd Barry Perry by 15 shots to 11.
Fred Crowther, Scott Simmons and Allan Davies defeated Graham Corney, D. Phelan and Darryl Campbell 24 shots to 12 and claimed the runner’s up money.
Lithgow City Bowling Club encouraged anyone who was interested in learning lawn bowls to come along.
