Held in conjunction with the Lithgow Halloween celebrations, the exhibition featured 52 skulls, each created by an artist, building on a foundation provided by Tim Johnman.
The bidding ranged significantly, with several items taking in more than $500.
The day raised $11,500 to support Lithgow Tidy Towns Laneways Projects.

Figures from Lithgow Library and Learning Centre, which hosted the skulls exhibition for two weeks before staying open for the auction on Saturday evening, show 1300 came through the doors of the venue on the day of the auction.
“It is a great result. We are very pleased,” Lithgow Tidy Towns’ Kathleen Compton said.
“We are indebted to the library, to council, to Tim Johnman and his wife Sarah and to every artist who took part.”
Expect to see more laneway art going up very soon, including a butterfly and a rainbow serpent.
