The athletes will complete injury prevention education sessions run by PHYZ X, lectures and a range of movement and fitness testing.
Around 300 athletes including their parents and coaches from AFL, basketball, golf, hockey, individual, netball and swimming will travel from all over the WRAS catchment for introductions to the 2019 program.
The day will kick off at 10am with lectures and education sessions followed by testing from 12pm onwards.
WRAS Sports Program manager Nicole Jones said the academy covered a large distance and their goal was to reduce any disadvantages to athletes living in smaller towns.
“It’s all about equal opportunities. Orientation will allow us to meet the athletes in person and put a face to a name and get some great base testing results which we use to monitor the athletes progress throughout the program,” she said.
