The four-man team made history and were crowned world champions for a record-breaking fifth time on Saturday, October 20.
Chopperoos captain Brad De Losa said he felt honoured to represent Australia, win the event and bring home the gold.
“As captain, it was a great honour to represent the country,” he said.
De Losa also said the team trained hard and were mistake free.
“We had a game plan to do everything right, last year we got a 15 second penalty and we ended up with a bronze,” he said.
He also said the team underwent a three day training camp in Manchester to help them prepare.
“It helped, we made sure we had good timing and everything was good,” De Losa said.
De Losa also said the team were excited when they realised they had broken their own world record by 1.35 seconds and set a new one.
“It just happened, it was not the aim for us, the aim was to win but it was certainly nice,” he said.
De Losa is now set for a bit of a break with a few smaller competitions coming up for the rest of the year.
“It’s time for a little bit of downtime and spending time with the family, until the bigger stuff starts happening in February,” he said.
De Losa also thanked Stihl Timbersports, friends and family and the fans that traveled to support the Chopperoos in England.
“We had a bit of a fan base, it was nice to look up and see some green and gold jerseys in the crowd,” he said.
