People and their animals are urged to put on their festive faces along with that iconic red hat and head down to the Hartley Historic Village on Sunday, December 9.
Karen Edwards from Karen Edwards Photography was the mastermind behind the hearty idea and has taken Santa photos in Hartley for the past five years.
“I’ve been capturing families and their four-legged friends in the paddocks of Hartley for a few years now thanks to the businesses who kindly offered their space for the occasion,” Karen said.

She said the businesses wanted to make something a little more community minded and to make a day of festive fun and that was when the idea of the Santa hat challenge was born.
“We were brainstorming ideas and then I thought, you know what? I’ve always wanted to photograph the most people and animals in Santa hats in the one location,” she said.
Karen hoped to see more people get involved at this year’s Great Santa Hat Challenge.
“It’s fun, it’s free, it’s festive and every year we get more people and their companions.”
Karen said on the day people could gather in front of The Old Hartley Post Office Cafe for the photo and, once it had been taken, she urged everyone to wander around the village.
“I hope everyone takes the chance to stay and relax, dine, shop local and take views in of the village,” she said.
You can get your Santa photos taken between 9am-10.30am at these Hartley locations:
- Saturday, December 1, Adams Shed, Hartley
- Sunday, December 2, The Lolly Bug
- Saturday, December 8, Adams Shed, Hartley
