The 41-year-old was selected for the team after claiming third place at the Stihl Timbersports National Championships last month. 

He has sharpened his axe and is ready to fight for first place and gain Australia’s fifth team world title alongside his Chopperoos teammates.

This year’s championship team is made up of captain Brad De Losa (NSW), Brayden Meyer (VIC), Glen Gillam (VIC), Jamie Head (QLD) and 2018 Rookie Champion Josh Bakes (TAS).

The Chopperoos are one of Australia’s most successful sports teams and have won four Stihl Timbersports World Championships over the past seven years.

Together they will compete with razor sharp axes and high-powered chainsaws against 24 different countries.

Chopperoos captain Brad De Losa said the team would be up against top nations including England, Germany, New Zealand and the US.

“New Zealand will definitely be our toughest competition this year followed by the US and Canada,” he said.

But Brad remained confident that the team would come out on top.

“Last year we made some mistakes and that cost us the competition, so this year we’re going to focus,” he said. 

“We’ve got a quality team, they’re really good and I’m confident that we will deliver a strong performance,” he said. 

“Let’s just hope that everything goes to plan.”

Brad will show his fine finesse and carry out the single buck discipline on the team’s behalf.

He said he had been thoroughly preparing and training for the world event both physically and mentally.

“I’ve been training two days a week doing some light weights and gym work,” he said.

“I’m not really nervous, I’m more excited if anything.”

Brad also said he was in good shape and form at the Australian Championships.

He hoped to carry that across with him to England when his time came to compete in the ‘Extreme Original Sport’.

“I know the procedures and I’m looking forward to getting over there and competing,” he said.

Brad flies out of Australia on Saturday to prepare in time for the competition.

The Stihl Timbersports World Championships will be held at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England on October 20 and 21.
