The documentary follows prominent human rights lawyer and refugee advocate, Julian Burnside, around the world as he investigates the asylum seeker policies administered by Western democracies.
In analysing the current refugee crisis and the punitive treatment of refugees, Burnside argues that failing political leadership is leading to a weakening of human rights and an undermining of democracy in the West.
The screening will conclude with a question and answer with director Judy Rymer and with cinematographer and filmmaker, Amir Kamrani.
Amir Kamrani arrived in Australia by boat as an asylum seeker and spent several years in detention.
Tickets can be purchased at Gleebooks Blackheath, Megalong Books, Leura, The Turning Page, Springwood or online at bmrsg.org.au/film-border-politics-and-qa.
