Equal leaders Charolais and Loopers have again put a gap between themselves and the rest of the field following Round Nine of the Lithgow Table Tennis Association Summer Competition played at the Old Trades Hall.

Charolais had the benefit of the bye while Loopers produced a solid come-from-behind victory over Wrecksavers.
Wrecksavers started the better in their match with Loopers, going up 2-1 and 4-3 and looked in good shape with an 8-5 advantage passing the halfway mark. Loopers hit the pedal from there though, finishing off the singles with a
6-1 run and adding 2-0 results in both doubles to get home comfortably in the end, 15-9.
Loopers were best served by Michael Wood at 5-2, followed by Kelly Gurney with 4-3 and Sharnie Roberts 2-4.
For Wrecksavers, Matt Kappos (4-2) and Dave Mays (5-3) both had positive results, but Peter Jaccoud didn’t bring his best form to finish 0-6.
Grippers and Spinners played out a topsy-turvy match with neither team looking comfortable at any stage. Grippers went up 4-1 early and never trailed, but they couldn’t shake a tenacious Spinners outfit that kept nipping at their heels.

Spinners got back to 6-5 down but could never quite catch up with Grippers going into the doubles in front, 14-11. Grippers then put the match to bed by winning the first doubles 2-1 before Spinners claimed to second to see the final score read Grippers 16, Spinners 14.
Roy Barlow was the shining light for Grippers with a round-best 6-2 mark, while Lou Kappos broke even at 4-4 and Linda Kappos went the distance for 4-5.
Spinners’ Pauline Wellfare played three three-gamers to just fall into the black at 5-4, with Riza Wiradi returning 4-4 and Malcolm Jefferies below par for 2-6.
Charolais stayed level with Loopers at the top courtesy of the bye.
