Just after 11.30pm, police were called to the intersection of the Great Western Highway and Explorers Road, following reports a semi-trailer had collided with a car and caught alight.
The driver of the semi-trailer, a man aged in his 40s, was uninjured.
The male driver of the car, remains trapped in the vehicle and was treated by paramedics.
A crime scene was established and an investigation has been launched.
The Great Western Highway was closed in both directions.
