The Lithgow region will be sending a strong contingent of up and coming athletes to the State PSSA competition, including a number who broke records on their way through the Western region.
Lithgow Public School’s Angus Clues has continued his incredible form, breaking five records at the Western PSSA Athletics competition held at Barden Park in Dubbo.
He broke the senior boys’ discus mark with a throw of 40.12m, the senior boys’ shotput with 13.23m and long jump with 5.03m. He also set the pace on the track, setting new records in the 12 year’s 100m dash (12.87 seconds) and senior boys’ 200m (26.81).
Lithgow Public team mates Emeric Tauolo Fuamatu set a new record in the junior boys’ discus throw of 33.55m.
Ryan Wells from Cooerwull was also setting his own pace in the 11 years boys’ 800m run with a blistering 2:34.29.
Five students from Cooerwull will go on to compete at Homebush in the NSW PSSA Athletics Carnival from October 31 to November 1.
Students heading off to compete at State for Cooerwull are:
- Ryan Wells, who came first in high jump and the 800m run
- Bella Wells, who placed second in the junior shotput
- Dylan McLean who finished second in the 11-years discus
- Deklin Unsworth who placed fourth in the senior shotput
- Blake Fittler who finished second in the 11 years shotput.
They will be joined by Lithgow Public School representatives:
- Angus Clues, who qualified first for his age group in the long jump, shot put, discus throw, 100m and 200m
- Maddison Symes who was second in the 12-13 years high jump
- Taliya Tauolo Fuamatu who was third in the girls 12-13 discus throw
- Emeric Tauolo Fuamatu who finished first in the 8-10 years shot put and discus.
