A much-needed cash splash is about to greatly improve safety at the ‘Action Attraction of the Central West’, the Cullen Bullen Raceway, a country speedway which attracts competitors from all over New South Wales.

The Portland District Motor Sports Club is just so excited to announce that through the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund $10,061 has been granted to the Cullen Bullen Sportsground Trust to upgrade the electricity supply to the grandstand and canteen.
Club Secretary Sue Healey the literally jumped for joy when Mr Toole further announced the club was also successful in receiving a further grant of $57,300 to replace a dilapidated and ageing tyre wall at the southern end of the speedway track.
The Cullen Bullen Raceway opened in 1991 after Portland District Motor Sports Club members transformed the rarely used Cullen Bullen Sportsground into a granite surface based speedway.

Over the years many improvements have been undertaken including the erection of a high safety catch fence,upgraded lighting, new canteen and toilet facilities in the pit area and just recently a pit exit safety gate.
Tim Savell of Speedway Australia was also on hand to witness the handing over of the two cheques by our local Member of Parliament Paul Toole.
The new racing season at the Kings Auto Parts Cullen Bullen Raceway is all set to start this Saturday, September 22 featuring a wide range of categories from the juniors, four cylinders, street stockers and limited sedans right through to the open wheeler microsprints, quarter midgets, compact speedcars and a rare demonstration by the vintage speedcars and modifieds.
The 36 event program commences at 4pm and continues under the ribbon of light until around 9.30pm with full canteen facilities available at very affordable prices.
