The team claimed the title of Western Region boys champions on June 15. Their form continued on September 17 when the the boys played Wee Waa, the North West Regional Champions in Narrabri.
Cooerwull won the toss and elected to field. Nerves got the better of the boys which allowed Wee Waa to get off to a flying start scoring six runs at the top of the first.
The boys did not disappoint when they came into bat and showed their nerves had settled scoring nine runs for two out. The new rules dictate that only nine runs can be scored in one dig and therefore the boys had to retire, sending Wee Waa back into bat.

Through good fielding and team work, Cooerwull was able to hold Wee Waa to the initial six runs for the rest of the match.
Cooerwull managed to score seven additional runs in the remainder of the game. Making them the winners with the final score being 16 to six.
All the boys played well. Particular mention needs to be made of Ryan Gill who pitched accurately and caught a number of fly balls.
Ethan Achurch scored the only home run and was Mr Consistency behind the plate. He proved a deadly combination with his brother Ben on first base and Zac McCann took a number of tags on second.
Deklin Unsworth’s experience in the Western Region side came to the fore when he took a pressure catch at short stop. Blake Fittler and Colby Van Der Velden teamed up with Deklin to ensure they shut down the play on the left side.
Ryan Wells handled the pressure of the opening batter with a strong hit and tenacious base running setting the tone for the rest of the team.
The speed and improved throwing skills of the outfielders Rylan Van Der Velden, Ryan Wells and Cooper Curran managed to hold any outfield hits to first base. Cooper Curran was subbed into the game half way through the match and got off to a great start with a strong hit.
A special thanks needs to be made to Miss Roberts whose dedication, skills and hard work in training the boys has paid off. The boys are now off to Sydney to compete in the State finals on December 6.
The school would like to express its thanks and gratitude to all the parents who supported the boys on the day especially having to travel a total of 874km for the match. Without their generosity, support and willingness to stay overnight the results may have been very different.
