Australia can do without honey. It would be a shame because it is a great tasting natural product, but we can substitute with sugar or go without.

But Australia cannot do without bees. Bees are the best all-purpose insect pollinators, and without pollination much of our agriculture would collapse.

To keep bees we must keep beekeepers and to keep beekeepers we must buy their honey.
Australian beekeepers are already leaving the industry. If we are not prepared to support those that remain we will be in big trouble.
So buy local honey, or check the label and refuse to buy honey sourced from overseas.
Be happy to pay a little more. Besides, Australian honey tastes much better than the watered down, overheated and over-filtered rubbish being imported.
P.S. Unless the big supermarket chains change their ways and pay dairy farmers a decent price, milk will be next.
