The Lithgow Workies Women’s Pennant team excelled themselves playing in the State No 2 Pennants finals held at Canton Beach in Toukley over four days and winning three out of four games in their section.

The Workies teams consisted of Lesley Townsend (skip), Noela Williams, Cynthia Thornton and Sue Metcalf, Cheryl Schram (skip), Ruth Harries Ellen Staines and Deidre Stubbs.
The first game up was against the very strong club St John’s Park.
The Workies team performed magnificently to upset the highly fancied club, winning in a very exciting game by three shots.
All players played to their best and there was lots of cheering and high fives after this great win.
That afternoon in very windy conditions they lost by three shots to Sawtell.

After that disappointing loss the next day they regathered and had a good win against the previously undefeated Cowra club.
They went on in convincing fashion to win both rinks against Gladesville.
Unfortunately they missed getting to the playoffs by only two shots, but it was a very pleasing effort winning against the much larger clubs in the state.
A big thank you to Gail Coates (manageress) and Wendy Constable (reserve) for giving the players lots of support and encouragement.
