Helen Taylor said at the event that Lithgow City Council has replaced the bronze plaque with a new one, also with new plantings.
She thanked the staff for their support and work to replace the damaged items and looked forward to blooms of forget-me-nots, cornflowers and poppies.
“All we need now is a bit of rain and sun to get the seeds to come up,” she said.
Some of the stories of soldiers included in the Society’s work ‘A Long March from Lithgow’ will be celebrated as part of the day, with the plaque to be unveiled by Bathurst MP Paul Toole.
