Yep, kangaroo poo is everywhere in urban areas of Greater Lithgow within hopping distance of the scrub at present, invading parks, gardens, sporting fields and open spaces in the search for something, anything, edible as the long drought impacts usual food sources.
One Bowenfels resident told the column the roos are even nibbling the bark from his citrus trees.
Now their bowel habits have ousted the dreaded pigeons as pooblic enemy number one.
It’s particularly a trap for anyone spreading a picnic rug in Lithgow’s QE Park where it’s increasingly difficult to find an unpolluted spot.
But that’s not all of it.

A lot of family dogs have a particular liking for Skippy Drops and you’re in uncharted territory when your pooch later shares his delicacy with an affectionate lick of your facial features.
And another word of caution; it’s well known the roos have no traffic sense and they’re now a road hazard in town.
A collision in Lithgow’s Rabaul Street last week had an unhappy ending for the driver’s no claim bonus and an even more unhappy result for the roving roo.
The anointed one
OUR Council representatives next month face the challenging task that now rolls around every two years of electing our Mayor, this time to lead us though to 2020 and the next full local government election. Still raw for many people was the boilover in 2016 when the then Deputy Mayor Ray Thompson decided not to vote for anyone and sat out the election, forcing a two way draw from the hat that saw Stephen Lesslie take the chair once occupied by his late father. This year’s outcome may well again depend on how and if Ray votes. But here’s an interesting catch; smart money in political circles is tipping that Ray himself may well be anointed to the top job this time around. Place your bets now, ladies and gentlemen.
Cold comfort
BLIZZARDS at the weekend emphasised the point that we’re well and truly still in the grip of what many see as the most bitter Winter in years. Winter officially ends in less than two weeks but that’s only a date on the calendar and a better indication is the greater reluctance this year for the normally early Spring blossoms to emerge from hibernation.
Highway litter
QUITE some months ago there was an anti Muslim rally called in Lithgow with involvement by the usual outside influences. Apart from a noisy but non violent confrontation by pro and anti lobbyists who paid us a visit it was a bit of a fizzer; Interest from the general public was just about zilch. But months later there’s still an anti Muslim sign for the rally high on a pole beside the highway overlooking Lithgow Jail. It was largely a wasted effort as it’s almost impossible to read on a 100km/h section of main road but it’s surely time it was removed.
