A man described as being in his mid 30s attacked a car with a baseball bat while its 58-year-old driver was still inside and then proceeded to follow the man to Lithgow Police Station.
The incident began at 7am on Monday, August 6, when the 58-year-old man was driving along Gas Works Lane about 20 km/hr under the speed limit and noticed he was being tailgated by a white sedan.
The driver of the sedan flashed his headlights before quickly overtaking the man and coming to a complete stop in front of him, blocking his vehicle from continuing up the lane.
The driver of the sedan got out of his car yelling and waving a baseball bat, which he threw at the man’s car, bending its antenna. He then hit a side mirror with the bat.
The 58-year-old man reversed and exited the lane down a side street.
The sedan driver followed him onto Chifley Road and overtook him before abruptly slamming on the brakes in front of him. The 58-year-old man tried to reverse away from his aggressor but the sedan driver also reversed, both cars travelling north in the southbound lane.
Eventually, the sedan driver reversed back behind the 58-year-old man’s car, and he was able to turn off Chifely Road to get to Lithgow Police station.

He pulled in front of the police station and was able to get the police’s attention, however, when officers went back to the car park the aggressor was gone.
The police have been unable to source CCTV showing the incident and are hoping to speak to anyone who witnessed the event.
The white sedan driver was described as wearing black tracksuit pants and a black sloppy joe with a large white logo on it, and being in his mid 30s, fit looking with olive skin and short dark hair.
