IT professional Leon Heydenrych was accused of threatening to publish the criminal history of convicted pedophile Kym Peckham unless he was paid.
But Mr Heydenrych denied the allegation, saying he had sent Peckham company's an invoice for more than $22,000 of work he had done, and not a letter of demand.
A warrant was issued for Mr Heydenrych's arrest in 2016, but it was not activated until he was travelling through Sydney Airport in June this year.
In Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, all charges against Mr Heydenrych were dropped.
Outside court, his lawyer, Mark Williams, said his client was pleased at the outcome.
"This has been a very difficult time for Mr Heydenrych both personally and financially," he said.
"He's maintained his innocence throughout and today's outcome is a vindication of his innocence.
"He's looking forward to getting on with the rest of his life."
