The top-of-the-table clash didn’t live up to expectations with Loopers holding sway for the whole distance.
Loopers broke out to a quick 4-1 lead and, while Spinners got back to 4-3, that would be as close as it got for the match.
A 6-2 Loopers run put them ahead 10-5 and at the completion of the singles they held an unbeatable 13-9 advantage.
Spinners had to win the two doubles rubbers both 2-0 to force a tie but it was Loopers that came through with the goods, winning both 2-0 themselves to seal a 17-9 triumph.

Pauline Wellfare (4-2) was the only Spinner to finish in the plus column, with Lou Kappos, also substituting, going the distance at 4-5 and Mal Jefferies below his best at 1-6.
The Charolais-Wrecksavers encounter was a bit closer.
Charolais stole the jump for an early 4-0 break but Wrecksavers fought back to trail only 5-4 and 7-6 before tying it up at 8-all with two singles and the doubles remaining. Charolais kicked again, going 4-1 to end the singles up 12-9 before Wrecksavers snatched the first doubles 12-10 in the third to be a chance at a tie with the score at 13-11.
Charolais wouldn’t be denied though, and won the second doubles 2-0 to end the match in front, 15-11.
Mark McAulay shone the torch for Charolais with 6-1, while Megan Kappos and Mark Watchorn supported with a pair of 3-4 results.
For Wrecksavers Peter Jaccoud broke even at 4-4, but Matt Kappos (3-4) and Carol Poole (2-4) couldn’t make anything happen.
Grippers claimed their first points of the season courtesy of the bye.
