Ms Statham is offering free haircuts to men and women in the Lithgow Local Government Area who are struggling with the drought.
“You just never know with a fundraiser where the funds are going and who gets priority which is why I decided to do something that doesn’t involve money,” Ms Statham said.
Ms Statham said that no money would be exchanged so she could assist the families first hand.
So far Ms Statham has had 9 bookings, with many more available to customers. She will be doing the free haircuts for the next three Wednesdays from 8am to 8pm.
“I’m staying open late and starting early because I know most farmers are working during the day and don’t have time for a hair cut but this way they might be able to come in,” she said.
As a drought affected farmer herself, Ms Statham said she knew what it was like to be struggling.

“I have had to sell off half my stock and I am down to my core breeding stock which is sad, but I am happy to do this, it is just a small token gesture and if it proves popular then perhaps I can do it again in a few months,” she said.
The haircuts will be made confidential and no one has to know that you have booked an appointment.
“Please, at the end of the day I am here to help, if you need a little lift to feel better, whether you’re male or female, I know how you feel so come forward and make an appointment,” she said.
“I will make sure it is conducted in a way you won’t feel embarrassed by.”
Ms Statham said it doesn’t matter if you don’t normally come to her salon or use her services, she is still happy to help.
“I want to help genuine farming families who only have their property as their sole income,” she said.
“With one income coming in and the price of fodder, transport and everyday bills to run a farm, I am happy to help them save $100 or so for a whole family haircut.”
The free hair cuts will take place in private surroundings at her salon "Newhaven Park" at 445 Sunny Corner Road, Portland.
