A 25-year-old Portland man was arrested for illegal hunting, trespassing and animal cruelty offences on Friday, July 20.

Following an extensive investigation by the Department of Primary Industries, Game Licencing Unit (GLU) and the Rural Crime Prevention Team, the man was arrested and charged at Lithgow Police Station.
The man is alleged to have hunted illegally on both public and private land, and has been charged with offences under the Game and Feral Animal Control Act, the Summary Offences Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act and The Forestry Act.
The man was charged with over 100 offences relating to illegal hunting, trespassing and animal cruelty in relation to ‘pigging’.
Investigators from GLU and Orana Mid-Western Police District Rural Crime Investigators will allege that the offences were committed in the Burraga, Sunny Corner, Wollar, and Bylong areas as well as other localities throughout the Central West.
The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Lithgow Local Court on Thursday, August 30.

Church vandals
Representatives of the Lithgow Baptist Church on the Great Western Highway attended Lithgow Police station at 10am on Monday, July 23 to report a rock had been thrown through a glass panel over the weekend.
Small fire
A small fire started in the vicinity of the hot water system at Red Rooster at 7.30pm Sunday, July 22.
Lithgow Fire Service attended to put out the fire.
No significant damage or injury occurred.
Car stolen
A 2004 silver ford BA Falcon sedan was stolen from Busby Street between 4pm and 11pm on Friday, July 20.
Break and enter
A garden shed has been broken into on Young Street Lithgow where a container of fuel was stolen. The incident occurred between 1am and 9am on Wednesday, July 18.
Stolen bike
A 1998 white Hilux Ute has been stolen from Rockley Road.
A 2014 90cc quad bike, helmet, breast plates and knee guards were also stolen from the property after 2.15am on Thursday, July 12.
