The charges follow an investigation into the assault of a former member at Silverwater correctional facility on Friday, March 16.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command were contacted by Correctives Services NSW following an affray between at least two inmates at a corrections facility at Silverwater on Friday, March 16 2018.
Police will allege in court a 32-year-old man entered an area of the facility and greeted a 27-year-old man, who shook his hand before punching him and throwing him to the ground.
The pair then wrestled with the younger man allegedly choking the older man until he lost consciousness.
Corrective Services officers restrained the younger man and rendered aid to the other, removing them from the area.
Both men refused further treatment.
