Returning to the State Championships for the first time in a decade, the Lithgow Under 13 Boys team has finished on the top of the leaderboard at Wagga.

They shared the top Division 4 honours with neighbouring Nepean Hockey Association.
Not only did this win give the team the honour of jointly holding the trophy, but it boosts them into the Division 3 competition next year.
“They went into the competition as underdogs, and they used that to their advantage,” team coach Heath Luck said.
“They took some of the other teams by surprise.”

The competition was held over three days at Wagga, with districts represented from across the state.
Three games were played on Friday, July 13, two on Saturday, followed by the semi-final on Sunday morning and the grand final on Sunday afternoon, July 15.
The game against Nepean ended in a 1-all draw.
“They are a great bunch of kids and very receptive to what I had to say,” Luck said.
“They were well mannered – just a wonderful bunch to coach.”
