Friday, July 13 saw zone finals take place at Lithgow Workman's Club with our district, Western, playing Nepean. The weather was a bit on the arctic side with everyone rugged up but when the sun came out it was beautiful. The Lithgow Workies teams had home ground advantage and were able to play to their full potential.

Two games were played on the Thursday and four games Friday. Five disciplines are going through to State which will be played at Taren Point in September.
Singles: Sue from Austral defeated Merle Stephens by three shots. This was a great seesawing game which could of swung either way.
Pairs: Robyn Fitzpatrick/Christine Semmler Lawson def St Marys on an extra end.
Senior Pairs: Isabelle Hurley/Nancy Fairall Hazelbrook def St. Mary's by 2 after an extra end.
Triples: Barbara Watters/Cynthia Thornton/Lyn Green L.W.V. def Windsor by 9 shots. These three when they played the final at District Level played in cold, wet and blustery conditions with Barbara being extremely wet and cold but their determination to finish the District Game has paid off in Zone.
Open Fours LWV: Deidre Stubbs, Barbara Watters, Lyn Green and Noela Williams won by 22 shots and after 19 ends the opposition conceded.
Senior Fours LWV: Sue Metcalf, Wendy Constable, Beryl Evans, Dianne Crook also won their game with a good margin.
Mixed Pairs: Commiserations to Lesley and Ian Townsend on missing out by a milimetre on the last end of their set play by a young couple Sam (23) and Mia (15) from Camden.
